Besides my main activity as a composer, there are additional bits and things to do, more or less related to music.

A concert night in December 2007 in Meckenbeuren, featuring Waltraud and Martin Weber, presenting christmas time songs together with some narrations. Some songs were Martin's translations of well-known english songs. Seasonal pictures projected to the left of the artists provided for a very atmospheric feeling. |

As for singers or musicians, there are contests for playwrights (plays, musicals, etc) as well. Martin Weber has submitted compositions to the following contests:
Starting in January 2006, Martin joins the German-American-Community-Choir in Frankfurt. He likes singing and will improve his contacts to native speakers. Highlights in the 2006 season are his solo part in "Pop goes Classic" and his participation in "The Singing Christmas Tree".
During fall 2005 Martin elaborates the first translation of a book (Amerikan -> German) of his life: "The Playwright's Guidebook: An Insightful Primer on the Art of Dramatic Writing" by Stuart Spencer. Currently, he is looking for a German publisher.

While surfing the web, Martin came across an article featuring negro gospels, dated 1867 and including song texts. Martin was impressed by these texts and so he composed music for some of them. The result is presented at a weekend in December in Meckenbeuren. In addition, Martin presents a couple of gospels he wrote himself completely (text and music). Some traditional gospels amend the concerts. Music and presentation are welcomed with standing ovations. Singers:

The idea came after the production "Land of Flowers" in July 2003 in Friedrichshafen. Why not stage this musical on Mainau island, the "Island of Flowers" in Lake Constance? A letter was written in July, a first phone call in September, and a preliminary agreement reached in November. In December a meeting on Mainau island took place. Agreement for a "preview-premiere" during the Count's Island Festival on the Mainau.
Music School Friedrichshafen is an appropriate platform for interested singers. A press conference took place in mid-January, a first casting one month later. The jury, consisting of the Music School's director Rainer Rudisch and Martin Weber, was surprised by the high quality of candidates.
Following this casting, a concept for the project has been made. It turned out, that the original musical was too much aimed at smaller children. Thus, a more or less complete rework finally led to the "Queen of Roses". The production is rehearsed over a period of 10 to 12 weeks. It is elaborated mainly by the teenage singers, with Martin Weber in a supervisory role. In parallel, three workshops for singing, dancing, and acting will be offered, providing an almost complete preparation for staging a musical.
During Winter 2003/2004, Martin Weber held a course on "Event Management" at a professional school in Tettnang. The course concluded with two shows organized and prepared by the pupils.
In late 2002, Martin presented two "experimental concerts": The first part consists of well known gospels. In the second part, first songs of the evolving musical "Marys Child" are performed for the first time. Afterwards - silence - and then an almost "exploding" audience spending lots of applause and standing ovations. The message is obvious: "Marys Child" will be fully elaborated!

The concerts took place in December 2002 in the evangelical church in Meckenbeuren. Due to the superb demand, an additional concert was presented on short notice.
